Conquering the South with Nuri Education

Nuri is a group of kindergartens and childcare centres that provide early childhood education for children aged three to six in Johor. Nuri managed to establish 22 schools in over 30 years of experience by adhering to the STEPS core values or framework (strive, think, explore, play, and socialise). Â

Nuri’s preschool programmes are divided into two categories:Nuri Junior (half day)and Nuri Junior Plus (full day). The curriculum is based on the Kurikulum Standard Prasekolah Kebangsaan (KSPK) from the Ministry of Education. For the English curriculum, the International Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) is used. According to Nuri’s official website, below are the details and programmes offered for each preschool.

Children that follow theSTEPS Discovery will have various activities that strengthen their gross-motor skills and teach them the basics, including art and sensory activities, music, learning first words, alphabets, numbers, colours, and shapes. ForSTEPS Discovery Elective, parents would choose one elective programme that is suitable to their child’s needs, which are Jawi, Mandarin, and Tamil.

When kids move on toSTEPS Junior Core, they are encouraged to be active and use activities that help them find their creativity and interests. Junior Lab, Fitness Fun, Phonics, Creative Music and Movement, and Celik Bahasa are some of the activities.STEPS Junior Elective, on the other hand, is the improved version of STEPS Discovery Elective, where students will continue learning more about the selected programme and master the basics of Mandarin, Tamil, and Islamic Studies.Â

Kids can also joinSTEPS Junior Plus to learn more about themselves than just academics. They can go on adventures, do simple science experiments, do arts and crafts, go to the theatre, and learn to cook. Plus,In-House Holiday Programme is available too, where students will have plenty of activities organised throughout the week, including Traditional Game Tuesday and Fashion Friday.

Other than preschools, Nuri also offered two Nuri Enrich programmes: Pre A1 Starters Cambridge English and ArtisTree.

The Pre A1 Starters Cambridge English programme will be conducted for eight months, once a week, with a total of 32 lessons. Students will be developing their English skills by reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Parents will have a choice about whether to let their child take the assessment, because all children will receive a certificate upon completion of the programme. Meanwhile, Artistree is for kids who want to develop their creativity by taking art classes and using only high-quality art tools.Â
