Melaka International School (MIS) is an approved Cambridge International Examination center located in Kampung Lapan, Malacca. Catering to students aged from four to 18 years old, this school provides education starting from kindergarten level to International General Certificate in Secondary Education (IGCSE) (O-Level) and A-Levels.
MIS’ mission is to be dedicated to giving every student the exceptional learning experience to achieve academic excellence and motivate them to become global leaders in respective fields. Hence, the curriculum is adapted from International Primary Curriculum (IPC) (UK) curriculum, QCA Scheme Framework, Cambridge IGCSE and A-Levels when approaching the public examinations.
Starting from kindergarten level, students are exposed to various types of self-development including communication and creativity – letting them engage in specially designed learning areas that make them wonder and explore their curiosity.Â
Primary School focuses on Years 1 to 6 where it is based on the National Curriculum for England, highly enhanced by IPC that is supported by language education in English, Malay and Mandarin. Primary School students are introduced to a curriculum that makes them apply the knowledge from early Primary years through hands-on activities. Subjects that they will learn are including History, Geography, Music, and Islamic studies (for Muslim students only).
When reaching to Secondary years, MIS uses IGSCE (UK) curriculum that similar to Malaysia’s Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). It lets the Year 7 to 11 students grab practical knowledge and applicable skills in order to discover their interests in learning and develop in better decision-making. Other than core subjects like Mathematics and Sciences, students are now taking subjects such as Biology, Physics, and Business Studies. Once they finish the assessment by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), they will now transition into higher education locally or internationally, according to their preferred fields.
MIS also offers A-Levels where instructors will boost the students’ potential in academic subjects that helps them enter top universities across the globe. Some interesting subjects to be studied are Psychology (9990), Economics (9708), and Law (9084).
