MGS (1) (1)

The German Language Center (GLC), created by the Malaysian-German Society (MGS) is a language center that promotes German courses which are subsidized by the German government. They offer language levels from A1 to B2 that comprise a variety of courses based on formats and standards available. The teachers are highly qualified and they taught the classes following the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) – in relation to Goethe Institut.

It was founded in 1968 in Penang with the goal of educating the people on the language and promoting their culture by having activities and celebrations that originated from Germany itself. Teaching German language is one of the most popular activities held by MGS.

In MGS, students are able to finish two levels of their GLC-Programme either from January until June or from July to December. They held classes twice weekly or hybrid for 4.5 hours, and the students will have to attend 120 hours worth per course. Corresponding to that, intensive courses or full level courses are held from Tuesday until Friday for three hours each day. It is also compulsory to attend 120 hours per course.Â

If needed, students can request private lessons and company lessons based on hours. These approaches are suitable for those who prefer a one-to-one learning environment and can be conducted in your own office.Â

MGS was established in 1962, making them celebrating their 60th anniversary this year!

Students will enter A1 Level for beginners classes and it costs RM2,176. It includes textbooks, course fee, exam fee and membership fee (RM30 per student for one semester). They will learn, understand and be able to use everyday expressions and phrases and converse in simple sentences. As they complete their levels, students then will join B1 and B2 Levels to be more fluent and create complex sentences.Â

Please note that the minimum age requirement to enroll in MGS classes is 14 years of age. Plus, students who are interested to reach level B2 / C1 for further studies in Germany, will have to score in B2 / C1 examination from Goethe Institut or TestDaf.

Other than classes, you can also join in their cultural activities such as OktoberFest and German Breakfast gathering. They are active in updating their social media platforms and inviting people to their celebrations.
