The Hungry Caterpillar Child Care Centre 2

The Hungry Caterpillar Child Care Centre, an exceptional facility, opens from 8 am to 7 pm, caters to children between the ages of 1 and 6. It offers a safe and secure cocoon for exploration and learning, inspired by the beloved children’s book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle, a book that takes young readers on a journey with a curious caterpillar as it explores and consumes various food items throughout the week, ultimately metamorphosing into a beautiful butterfly. Similarly, The Hungry Caterpillar provides an environment where children can explore their interests and fulfil their needs, ultimately transforming into thriving, well-rounded individuals.

One distinctive feature that sets The Hungry Caterpillar apart is its integration of internationally-acclaimed teaching systems and methods. This unique programme harmoniously blends various educational approaches, including Jolly Phonics, Singaporean mathematics, and Kindermusik. It utilises the British-based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, ensuring a comprehensive foundation for each child’s development while also aligning with the local childhood education curriculum (NPSC).

The educational journey provided by The Hungry Caterpillar is unlike any other, with a strong focus on building character and intellectual capacities simultaneously. The institution firmly believes in a whole-child approach, providing individualised attention to nurture children’s cognitive, personal and physical development. This holistic approach extends to creating a child-centred environment that fosters personal growth and teaching methods are designed to be student-centred, ensuring that each child learns in the way that suits him or her best.

To provide an outlet for children’s active energy and to promote fitness and health, The Hungry Caterpillar offers an array of play areas, including a soft play gym, an outdoor play area and a swimming pool. These spaces allow students to learn gross and fine motor skills in enjoyable and engaging ways, supported by an American physical education curriculum. Swimming lessons, taught in small groups by dedicated instructors from Leap & Swim, are available to students of all age groups.

Mandarin, as a vital language in our globalised world, is also a focus at The Hungry Caterpillar. The centre provides Mandarin lessons, ensuring that students master the basics of this essential language as they prepare for primary school and beyond. These fun Mandarin lessons not only support language acquisition but also foster an understanding of Chinese culture.
