CLE Enrichment Centre: Nurturing Language Proficiency and Emotional Intelligence

For over a decade, CLE Enrichment Centre has transcended traditional educational models to focus on a holistic approach to literacy and emotional intelligence. Our goal is to cultivate both the intellect and character of children, providing a strong literacy foundation complemented by the enhancement of social and emotional skills.

Our Teaching and Learning Process:

Our unique educational process involves small class sizes, interactive sessions, and English as the sole medium of instruction. We emphasize purposeful language use, allowing children to progress at their own pace and view mistakes as a natural part of learning. Through this, children take ownership of their literacy journey, fostering a love for reading and writing.

We draw inspiration from Vygotsky’s (1978) theories, emphasizing the social aspects of learning. Our mentors act as facilitators and counselors, collaborating with students to guide their discovery and application of language skills.

Our Modules:

• Basic: Introduces phonics for confident word recognition, building up to sentence-level reading.
• Intensive: Enhances understanding and interest in reading through phonics-guided storybooks.
• Extensive: Expands the range of reading materials, bolstering vocabulary and articulation skills.
• Explorer: Develops opinion-forming and basic writing mechanics, leading to complex sentence structures.
• Achiever: Presents complex texts to encourage logical linking of multiple sentences and paragraphs.
• Evaluator: Focuses on text analysis, supporting opinion with sensible arguments, and exploring various writing genres.
• Creator: Fosters disciplined and independent reading and writing, guiding students through comprehensive essay writing techniques.

Our Approach:

Adopting the Whole Language Learning approach, we view language as an integrated whole rather than fragmented parts. Cognitive and affective aspects are nurtured, with a curriculum that progressively integrates language skills and incorporates Bloom’s taxonomy of thinking skills to complete diverse tasks.
